Famous National Geographic Photographer, Hidehiro Otake, Appearing At JCAM, Sunday, August 19th @ 8pm

Hidehiro Otake will be making an appearance at the Japanese Cultural Association of Manitoba, 180 McPhillips Street, on August 19th, 2018 at 8pm.

Hidehiro Otake will be making an appearance at the Japanese Cultural Association of Manitoba, 180 McPhillips Street, on August 19th, 2018 at 8pm.

The Japanese Cultural Association of Manitoba, JCAM,  will be hosting an evening with Hidehiro Otake, a wildlife photographer originally from Winnipeg’s sister city, Setagaya, this Sunday, August 19th starting at 8pm.  Otake has been photographing the wildlife and their enviornment in Canada and the USA.   He has published his photos in forms of children’s books in Japan.  His photographs can been seen in other publications and are so loved that various people have asked him to take them to these spots.

Thank You, Winnipeg! The 2018 JETAA Canada National Conference Is Now History!

JETAA Canada National Conference has wrapped up in Winnipeg. After 10 years of last hosting the conference, JETAA Prairies hosted the event at the Canadian Museum of Human Rights. Representatives from JETAA BC/Yukon, JETAA Calgary, JETAA Edmonton, JETAA Toronto, JETAA Ottawa, and JETAA Quebec/Atlantique, as well as representatives from the Japan Local Government Centre in New York (CLAIR) and the three JETAA USA representatives attended the event.

The conference kicked off with a video message from the Consul General of Japan in Calgary, Shigenobu Kobayashi and a welcome reception.  During the three-day conference, the Canadian chapter representatives presented their respective chapters’ events during the past year and the challenges that each chapters had faced. The JETAA USA reps also presented their year-in-review including the JET 30 Celebrations. In addition to these presentations, there was a brainstorming session on what activities  a chapter would like to do in the future or how to tackle a current issue.

It has been a productive three days. JET Prairies would like to thank the Consul General of Japan in Calgary, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Japan Local Government Centre in New York, JETAA USA reps, all the Canadian chapter delegates, the Canadian Museum of Human Rights, The Mere, and all the JET Prairies alumni and guests who attended the conference.

6 More Days to the 2018 JETAA National Conference…in Winnipeg!

Yes, we’re hosting the 2018 JETAA National Conference next weekend from August 10th to August 12th.  Representatives from all Canadian JET chapters as well as representatives from JETAA USA and the Japan Local Government Centre of New York will be in attendance.  This is the biggest event in the JETAA calendar.  We had sent an email invitation for the Friday, August 10th dinner to all JETAA Prairies alumni.  Space is limited.  If you haven’t RSVP’d, please do so by Tuesday, August 7th.  Let us know if you are a JETAA Prairies alumni, hadn’t received the email invitation, and would like to go.
